fortexx consulting, established in 2015 by Mark Bittle and Pete MorrisRoe, is a consulting company providing professional services focused on Data Solutions. Our mission is to enable organizations of all sizes – from SME to Enterprise level – to better manage and govern critical organizational data through best in-class technologies and accompanying business processes.
We bring a long history specializing in data warehousing, data quality, data migration, data governance, designing & implementing analytic systems, as well as overall IT management & strategy. Our data expertise encompasses many industries and domains, including international experience. OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM
Founder & Managing Director
Mark has B.A. in Computer Studies and Economics from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL with a minor in artificial intelligence. He worked initially for what is now accenture and Arthur Andersen Business Consulting in Chicago. From there he helped launch the London office of Platinum Software (ERP & Financials). He later re-joined Andersen Consulting/accenture and served as the operations manager of The Multimedia Factory, a leading edge software Center of Excellence.
Prior to setting up fortexx consulting, Mark was a co-founder, principal and MCSE at Woodmark Technologies/Solve, a Business Intelligence and Application Development company with 3 locations in the upper, central and lower Midwest region and clients with a national presence. He was instrumental in growing the company by 500% in less than 3 years through a merger, aggressive recruiting & training and building operational support capabilities.
Over his 30 year career Mark has delivered solutions in many job functions, from strategy & financial management to solution design, delivery & support and many other aspects of IT management.
His technology experience is very broad and includes infrastructure, custom application development, databases, packaged ERP & financial Systems, Analytics, etc. He also has significant Project Management experience.
His industry experience is varied and is primarily focused on financial services, manufacturing, distribution, retail and health care.
His client experience includes JP Morgan Chase, Madison Dearborn Partners, Duff & Phelps, US Gypsum, Waste Management, Cook County Health Services, Telemedicine and Walmart.
Mark was an academic all Big Ten athlete and enjoys doing triathlons and an occasional marathon. He has traveled in Europe, China and Africa including climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and bungee jumping at Victoria Falls. Mark especially enjoys trying out new adventures such as hang gliding, rock climbing, scuba diving and pilot training.
Founder & Managing Director
Pete has a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Math from University College Dublin, specializing in statistics, finite calculus & relational algebra. He worked with what is now accenture and Arthur Andersen Business Consulting for many years in London, Boston, Chicago, and Frankfurt.
On leaving Arthur Andersen he became CIO and Director of In-house Consulting for the on-line brokerage subsidiary of HypoVereinsbank, a major German bank. In 1999 he established Woodmark Consulting AG, a Munich-based IT consulting company focused on Analytics (Data Warehousing, Reporting, Dashboards, Planning & Budgeting etc.) and IT Management/ Governance. Woodmark now has approx. 75 consultants and serves primarily major Germany-based multinationals.
On returning to Chicago, Pete joined forces with his friend and former Arthur Andersen colleague, Mark Bittle, to form fortexx consulting.
Pete’s industry experience is varied and is focused primarily on financial services, automotive (especially sales, aftersales &financial services), manufacturing, distribution and health care.
Pete has served numerous clients throughout his career including Daimler, BMW, Siemens, Unicredit, Commerzbank, MLP (large German investment broker), JP Morgan Chase, Madison Dearborn Partners and Fidelity Investments.
Pete is a keen technologist and in addition to following and analyzing the latest trends – especially in the data space, he has hands-on engagement experience with, among other analytics tools, MS Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, IBM TM1, Adaptive Insights and others.
Having been a CIO, experiencing the challenges of this position personally, he is also keenly interested in consulting with IT leaders on management, organizational and governance issues – especially in terms of working effectively with business units and in particular as it relates to data issues. He has conducted numerous reviews of IT organizations using the COBIT & ITIL frameworks. Pete is a member of the Chicago chapter of ISACA (Information Systems Audit & Control Association).
Pete has many years’ experience managing projects using both traditional “waterfall” based methodologies as well as newer AGILE approaches. He is SCRUM certified.
When time and knees allow, Pete enjoys outdoor pursuits such as long-distance running, cycling and skiing. He is an avid reader of just about everything. His sporting passion is Rugby – which unfortunately he now has to watch instead of play.
Business Development Director
Malissa joined fortexx consulting in July of 2016 with an international background in business management, consumer electronics and professional services consulting. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northwestern University with a concentration in Economics and Business Administration.
Over her 20-year career Malissa has had the opportunity of working with clients and partners developing business growth strategies in sales & marketing, strategic market analysis in 25+ countries, IT portfolio management, Microsoft ERP and CRM implementation project management, incentive program development and business process efficiency development.
Her industry experience includes retail, distribution, restaurant, manufacturing, financial services, not-for-profit and government contracting. To Malissa no client is too big or small to become part of her team – she strives to provide excellent customer service and works with her clients as a team.
Malissa’s client experience includes Chicago Board Options Exchange, Rosenthal Collins, National Easter Seals, Goodwill Industries, Cook County Clerk’s Office, Cabela’s, Home Depot, a variety of SMB partners around the world and one of Chicago’s favorite smelling factories Blommer Chocolate.
A Chicago native, Malissa loves providing fun things to do and places to eat in her beloved city. She has traveled throughout Europe, Asia, most of North America and is always looking for that next travel adventure.
On her travels she enjoys scuba diving, biking, and local history & cultural exploration.
